More DAB digital radio on the way…

aDABtickmarkLooking like from 29th February 2016 the area will have some many DAB digital radios to check out.

The countdown to the UK’s newest digital radio multiplex has begun, with 18 stations joining Sound Digital’s new service from 29th February 2016.

Stations launching on Sound Digital are:

  • talkSPORT2
  • Virgin Radio
  • Share Radio
  • Mellow Magic
  • Magic Chilled (new) (DAB+)
  • Absolute 80s (moving from its current slot on Digital 1)
  • Kisstory (moving from its slots on various local DAB services)
  • heat radio (moving from its slots on various local DAB services)
  • Planet Rock (moving from its current slot on Digital 1)
  • Sunrise Radio
  • Awesome Radio (new – from Asian Sound Radio)
  • UCB2 (the recently renamed station, moving from its slots on various local DAB services)
  • Premier Christian Radio (moving from its current slot on Digital 1)
  • Premier Praise! (new)
  • Panjab Radio
  • Fun Kids (existing London DAB frequency remains) (DAB+)
  • Jazz FM (DAB+)

Flying Scotsman going full steam ahead for return to the East Coast Main Line

The most important date in a decade has been set for steam enthusiasts – the return of Flying Scotsman to the East Coast Main Line.

Its owners, the National Railway Museum have now named the date for this triumphant run from London King’s Cross as Thursday February 25.

CYCLING: Witham Wheelers test reliability around the Vale

Witham Wheelers latest reliability ride took place on two routes out into the Vale Of Belvoir, through Redmile, Long Clawson and back via Waltham on the Wolds.

The more experienced riders completed 43 miles in four different speed groups, and the less experienced group a 32-mile route.

Bythams Primary School logoInspired by British astronaut Tim Peake, youngsters have been exploring the great mystery of space this term.

Pupils in the Year 5/6 class at Bythams Primary School have had a homework topic linked to space, as they’ve been inspired by the story of the astronaut and his six-month journey on the International Space Station.
