This website contains information about the villages of Castle Bytham and Little Bytham, in Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
The posters were up, flyers on the tables and the regular players were notified of the date a few weeks ago by email but was anyone going to turn up??
Tuesday 9th October 2012, the first quiz of the season took place at the Willoughby Arms, Little Bytham, we had seven teams with a total of 35 quizzers. One of the teams turned up the previous week convinced that they had the right Tuesday evening – it’s ok Ian we won’t tell anyone!!
Along with the regular players there were some new faces, I hope we didn’t go to quickly for you and that you’ll come and join us again.
With summer done and dusted the music round didn’t bring the usual moans and groans; the clue – the word hot was in the title of the song or the artistes name. A rare mix including You Sexy Thing, Hot Stuff, Snoopy versus the Red Baron, Sarah Brightman and Hot Gossip, plus Girls Aloud, something for all ages more or less. The picture round was road traffic signs (nothing out of the ordinary, you might think) but we made sure we had an up to date copy of the Highway Code just in case anyone disagreed with the answers.
The final scores ranged from 78 to 137, in third place were United Staits with 123 point, followed by Haven’t Started Yet with 125 point but congratulations this month go to Big Pig who were the winners with 137 points.
To raise funds for the Alan Wood Memorial Garden, we had a raffle which included a bottle of Bells Special Reserve Malt Whisky donated by Chris Moxom, a Meerkat donated by Bub, some notelets donated by Marc from the Weird Fish team plus eight other prizes donated by the producton team including cosmetics, Thorntons fudge and daffodil bulbs.
Kip added the quiz entry fees to the fund so with raffle ticket sales and Duncan giving an extra donation to round the money up, we ended the evening having raised £100.
A special thank you to all who helped make the evening a success, by coming along and taking part, buying raffle tickets or donating prizes. To Kip for the use of the pub and Bub for keeping the drinks flowing.
We couldn’t have done it without you.
The next quiz will be on Tuesday 6th November.
