South Kesteven Election Results 2011

Elizabeth (Ibis) Channel, an Independent candidate, has been elected as the Hillsides Ward representative to South Kesteven District Council. Ibis received 568 votes in the local council election which took place on 5 May 2011.  The other candidate for the seat, Martin Troloppe-Bellew, Conservative, gained 379 votes as per the Declaration of Poll Result published by the Returning Officer.

Martin Wilkins, Conservative, was elected as councillor for the Morkery Ward ‘without contest’ – being the only candidate.

Lost your Internet Connection?

During most of the day today (Friday 6 May 2011) the Castle Bytham telephone exchange has been experiencing “connectivity problems” which has meant that most of those served by the exchange lost their broadband internet connection.  You can monitor the situation in the future by checking out twitter.com/DemonStatus for updates.

This update to theBythams website was achieved via mobile broadband – probably a first for the site!

Rutland Open Studios 2011

During the month of June artists in Rutland and the surrounding areas will be opening their studios to the public as part of the 5th Rutland Open Studios.  These are free events to promote the Arts in the area. Vanda Richards, from Little Bytham, will be opening her studio for the first three weekends 4/5, 11/12, 18/19 June from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day.  There will be no admission charge, no raffle and no obligation to buy!  There will be a selection of oil paintings and watercolours on show, as well as work in progress. Vanda’s studio can be found at Glenmere, Creeton Road, Little Bytham by following the yellow directional signs on the day. Cows Loose in Little Bytham

Cows loose in Little BythamAfter the first cuckoo earlier in the month, what is believe to be the another first for 2011 … “cows loose in the village” was heard this evening when a dozen or more were seen roaming down the High Street in Little Bytham. After undertaking preliminary inspections for the Bythams Best Garden Competition and fertilising various paths, as well as the road, they were persuaded to return to their field – an activity which interrupted an evening of putting practice down Church Lane apparently. 🙂
