Deer Poaching Activity : 28/01/2017

Overnight between 27th of January 2017 and the morning of the 28th, deer poaching has occurred between Castle Bytham and South Witham. The offenders have caused a great deal of damage to gates, fencing and crops. If you witness any suspicious activity late at night, please report it to the Police on 101. Together, we can tackle rural crime. This message refers to incident 88 – 28/01/2017.

Changes to waste collections in South Kesteven over Christmas period

SKDC logoWaste collections will take place a day later over the festive period in South Kesteven.

This means there will be no bin collections on Boxing Day or Monday, January 2 and all collections will be 24 hours later than normal each day during the two weeks.

Seventh anniversary of the tragic murder of Bourne supermarket worker Alan Wood

Today (Monday) is the seventh anniversary of the brutal murder of a Bourne supermarket worker, Alan Wood.

The 50-year-old man’s mutilated and lifeless body was found on the living room floor of his home in Lound by a neighbour on October 24, 2009.

New memorial unveiled near Antwerp remembers Castle Bytham pilot who was shot down in Lancaster over Belgium

Seventy-three years after a Lancaster bomber piloted by former Stamford School pupil Albert Victor Crawford was shot down over Belgium a memorial to those who lost their lives has been unveiled.

Flying Officer Crawford, known to friends and family as Victor, joined the RAF in 1941 and was soon posted to a cadet school in Arizona where he earned his wings. Victor, from Castle Bytham, chose to train as bomber, rather than fighter, pilot and joined 50 Squadron.
