The No.10 Store Nears Completion

The No.10 Store in Little Bytham is nearing completion in preparation for its Opening Party on Saturday 14 May 2011.  The shop now has a very different feel to it.

Tom has been able to use his architectural design skills to create something quite remarkable with central solid wood display areas, traditional wooden shelving and a bold counter – essential work as the former fittings had been removed.  The stylish fittings are coordinated with a new stone floor and a ‘lick of paint’ in a warm but light shade.  The transformation has not been an easy one,  a huge amount of work has been completed, in a short period of time, including the installation of central heating, new lighting, the stone floor and a renovated shop front.   The floor area has been almost doubled, through an expansion into an adjacent former stock room – creating greater space for a wider range of products.

As well as the necessary essentials of a village store – something for everyone including newspapers, milk, fresh bread and the conveniences of modern living – Meg has also sourced a number of popular local favourites. She has already arranged to sell meat from Grasmere Farm – the local pork butcher from Market Deeping, delicious bread from Belvoir Bakery, natural “nasties-free” drinks from Belvoir Fruit Farm, cakes from ‘Kate’s Little Cakes’ in Castle Bytham and a range of Oakham Ales.  At the moment the Store will  also be stocking Tuxford Mill flour and will, when the grain becomes available, sell Little Bytham flour from Tuxford Windmill. As Meg says … “It will be great to have the Little Bytham flour when its ready!”

Why not drop in for the Opening Party on Saturday 14 May 2011, between 4.00pm and 7.00pm – there will be champagne and locally made cup-cakes available – can you really resist?

Arson Couple Baffled by Firebomb Attack on Home

Peter and Sylvia Cox have told BBC News that they are “devastated and baffled” by the firebomb attack on their house, in Castle Bytham, last week and could not understand why anyone would want to hurt them.  Peter said: “Police have been talking to us about this and everything we could possibly have thought of we’ve told them – but we’ve not really thought of anything which is specific.”

The “No.10 Store” Opening Party

After a major refurbishment over the last few weeks Mrs Bees shop, in Little Bytham, is about to re-open with a new name – “The No. 10 Store“.  To mark the occasion Meg Overend, the new owner, has arranged an Opening Party between 4.00pm and 7.00pm on Saturday 14 May 2011.

Meg says that the party has been arranged “especially for the local community so they can have a look around and get a sneak peek at their shop before it opens properly on the Sunday”.  As an encouragement champagne and cup-cakes, made by the new Coffee Shop which opens in Castle Bytham Village Hall on the previous Wednesday, have been ordered but you might need to get there early before they run out!

We hope to have more information and some pictures of the redevelopment work which has taken place on theBythams website this week but, in the meantime, for further details Meg can be contacted on 410005 or via email at meg@theno10store.co.uk.
