Changes to waste collections in South Kesteven over Christmas period

SKDC logoWaste collections will take place a day later over the festive period in South Kesteven.

This means there will be no bin collections on Boxing Day or Monday, January 2 and all collections will be 24 hours later than normal each day during the two weeks.

Castle Bytham’s Midsummer Festival proceeds presented to good causes

Huge numbers of visitors from near and far enjoyed Castle Bytham’s Midsummer Festival in June and thousands of pounds was raised for good causes despite parking and entrance being free.

At a wine and nibbles event in Castle Bytham Village Hall on Tuesday, August 9, the outgoing chairman of the festival committee, Peter Hinton, presented cheques totalling £5,000 to eight community projects. This money was raised by the tombola, raffle, duck race and the profits of the sale of food and drink.

Raise your concerns about crime at rural police panel meeting in Castle Bytham

A policing panel meeting will be held tonight (Tuesday, July 12) at the Castle Bytham Village Hall.

Hosted by the Stamford Neighbourhood Policing Team, the meeting starts at 6.30pm. This is an opportunity for people to attend and pass on their thoughts and concerns.

New memorial unveiled near Antwerp remembers Castle Bytham pilot who was shot down in Lancaster over Belgium

Seventy-three years after a Lancaster bomber piloted by former Stamford School pupil Albert Victor Crawford was shot down over Belgium a memorial to those who lost their lives has been unveiled.

Flying Officer Crawford, known to friends and family as Victor, joined the RAF in 1941 and was soon posted to a cadet school in Arizona where he earned his wings. Victor, from Castle Bytham, chose to train as bomber, rather than fighter, pilot and joined 50 Squadron.

Put date for Castle Bytham Midsummer Fair and Music Festival in your diary

It might still be Spring but preparations for the Castle Bytham Midsummer Fair and Music Festival are already well-underway.

The Music Festival runs over two days on Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19, and runs alongside the popular Castle Bytham Midsummer Fair on the 
Sunday.
