Change in wind direction could have caused plane crash near Castle Bytham

A light aircraft may have crashed into a bungalow because of a sudden change in wind direction, an investigation has found.

The 73-year-old pilot of the Denney Kitfox ultralight was seriously injured in the crash, which happened at a grass airstrip between Castle Bytham and Swayfield just after 2pm on November 19.

Global TV audience for unsolved murder of Alan Wood

Police hope a worldwide audience for a new TV documentary on the horrific murder of supermarket worker Alan Wood could help solve the case.

Alan, 50, last seen alive at The Willoughby Arms, in Little Bytham, was tortured over some hours – repeatedly stabbed in the head – and had his throat slit, the fatal wound that saw him bleed to death at home in Lound, near Bourne, in October 2009.

Show your support for Rat Race Dirty Weekend runners

People are being urged to show their support for thousands of competitors who will tomorrow take on a gruelling 20-mile obstacle course.

The Rat Race Dirty Weekend takes place for the third time in the grounds of Burghley House, near Stamford, on Saturday.

Brian Makwana, from Castle Bytham, and a team of friends are running to raise money for CDH UK in aid of Brian’s son Wyatt, who was born with a condition called congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

Lincolnshire County Council to review school transport

Campaigners have been fighting for a review of Lincolnshire County Council’s policy for several months.

Members of the Glenside School Transport Campaign argue that in some areas, such as Castle Bytham, Little Bytham and Creeton, the free transport provided to secondary schools is not as comprehensive as in other areas of the county.
