Friends of Alan Wood remember him with a pint and a packet of Mini Cheddars at his local pub

Alan Wood was killed in his Lound bungalow on October 23, 2009, and colleagues and friends from where he used to work at Sainsbury’s in Bourne gathered at a special reunion at the Willoughby Arms pub in Little Bytham tonight (Wednesday, March 23).

They were joined by his younger sisters, Janice and Sylvia.

New train service to Lincoln starts today

The new LNER Azuma services between Lincoln and London King’s Cross starts today (Monday 21 October 2019).

Lincoln to London King’s Cross services (Monday to Friday only):-

  • Lincoln: Departs 07:30 (Peterborough: 08:29) – Existing HST service.
  • Lincoln: Departs 11:18 (Grantham: 12:08, Peterborough: 12:30) – Azuma service.
  • Lincoln: Departs 13:23 (Grantham: 14:06, Peterborough: 14:30) – Azuma service.
  • Lincoln: Departs 15:26 (Grantham: 16:08, Peterborough: 16:30) – Azuma service.
  • Lincoln: Departs 17:14 (Grantham: 18:06, Peterborough: 18:29) – Azuma service.

London King’s Cross to Lincoln services (Monday to Friday only):-

  • London: Departs 10:06 (Peterborough: 11:01, Grantham: 11:21) – Azuma service.
  • London: Departs 12:06 (Peterborough: 13:01, Grantham: 13:21) – Azuma service.
  • London: Departs 14:06  (Peterborough: 15:00, Grantham: 15:20) – Azuma service.

Dog walkers warned after upturned nails found in woods near Grantham

Dog owners are being urged to be vigilant after a number of upturned nails were found in woods near Grantham.

A reader, who asked not to be named, shared a picture of one of the nails at Twyford Woods near Colsterworth, which is a popular area for both dog walkers and families, on social media.

The Fox Inn truckstop by the A1 at South Witham closed its doors last night (Thursday).

The popular truckstop now has an uncertain future after the pub landlady and her staff quit the premises, unhappy about its new owners and their proposals.

Alan Wood murder: Police launch new appeal 10 years

Ten years ago, supermarket worker Alan Wood disappeared and was found three days later, tortured and brutally murdered in his home near Bourne.

Now, a decade on from “one of our force’s most serious and disturbing unsolved crimes”, Lincolnshire Police have issued a new appeal for information.
