Cows Loose in Little Bytham

Cows loose in Little BythamAfter the first cuckoo earlier in the month, what is believe to be the another first for 2011 … “cows loose in the village” was heard this evening when a dozen or more were seen roaming down the High Street in Little Bytham. After undertaking preliminary inspections for the Bythams Best Garden Competition and fertilising various paths, as well as the road, they were persuaded to return to their field – an activity which interrupted an evening of putting practice down Church Lane apparently. 🙂

LNER A4 60019 Bittern passes through Little Bytham

The A4 locomotive 4464(60019) Bittern passed through Little Bytham this morning on the first day of a nine day Rail Touring CompanyGreat Britain IV” rail-tour.  The locomotive had been repainted in LNER Garter Blue and renamed Dominion of New Zealand specially for the trip.  In its new livery the locomotive is very much like its legendary A4 class mate the 4468 Mallard. The loco is seen above at Grantham station, photo courtesy of BBC Lincolnshire’s Facebook Page. Details of rail tours across the UK can be found at www.uksteam.info
