Two People Escape from Castle Bytham House Fire

TheBythams was shocked by the news that an arsonist had attacked the home of an elderly couple, Peter and Sylvia Cox, in Castle Bytham during the early hours of Wednesday morning (4 May 2011). From comments already made in the May issue of the Glenside News, which Peter has edited for a number of years, this was the fourth of a series of similar incidents at the house.  The Stamford Mercury report also suggests that this is not the only house in the village experiencing the same mindless activity.  Hopefully Lincolnshire Police will bring those responsible to justice at the earliest opportunity.

If you have any information that you think would assist them with their enquiries please contact them on 0300 111 0300 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

The cottage belonging to Peter and Sylvia Cox, in the peaceful village of Castle Bytham, was torched by an arsonist in the early hours of Wednesday morning. It is the fourth time the couple’s home has been targeted, and could result in an attempted murder charge for the culprit.”

The man and woman, aged 82 and 74, were rescued from their bedroom window in High Street, Castle Bytham, by neighbours at about 2am on Wednesday as their front room burned below them.”
