Concessionary Bus Pass Scheme Changes

From the Glenside News (February 2011) …

Central Government has decided that from 1st April 2011 responsibility for bus passes will transfer from the District Council to the County Council.

So what does this mean?

There will be no changes to the current system before March 2011. Current bus passes will still remain valid until their expiry date. Financial constraints will mean some discretionary elements such as taxi-tokens and Rail Card contributions will cease.

The way you apply fo a new bus pass will be different. From April you must apply by post, or alternatively apply in person at City Hall in Lincoln (this applies for all district areas). The option for making applications and renewals on-line is also being developed. These options will give you a choice in how you obtain your pass but please do not apply any earlier than 21 days in advance of the due date.

Application forms and an information leaflet about the Scheme will be available from libraries, local District Council Offices, other key access centres and on-line.

On Law and Order

On the evening of Thursday 17th February in Castle Bytham Village Hall a distinguished panel of experts will be present to answer your questions on Law and Order. The doors will open at 7.00pm for a prompt start at 7.30pm. Tickets will be available from the village shop, Penny Price and Vicky Dennis at £7.00 each to include entrance and a hot supper. A pay-bar will also be provided. As numbers will be limited, please buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment. This will also ensure that there is plenty of food for everyone! Thank you.

On behalf of St James’ Church a big thank you to Sue Blunt for organising the Carol Singing, to all who joined her despite the bitterly cold weather, to Charlotte and Eamonn at the Castle who ensured that everyone set out in good spirits and to all who gave so generously. Together you raised a whopping £339.08 for Church Funds.

We are very grateful for your continued support, particularly during these times of so much uncertainty, which helps us maintain St James’ Church for the benefit of the whole community.

Threat to Lottery Terminal

Camelot have today informed us that our Lottery terminal will be withdrawn within 6 months due to a decline in sales. As you can imagine this will be another huge blow to the shop!
